What does "Eben-Ezer" mean? In 1 Samuel 7 we read of Israel's liberation from the Philistines. When God brought his mighty thunder against the Philistines, causing them to trouble Israel no more, Samuel took a stone. Setting it between Mizpah and Shen, he called it Eben-Ezer, declaring, "Hereto the Lord has helped us!" So, as you can see, it is much more than a crusty old man in a Charles Dickens story who finds his heart at Christmas time, Eben-Ezer is the Stone of Help, representing the Solid Rock that God is to us. The Lord has blessed this new family abundantly with His never-changing, never-ending, always loving and solid presence. His presence is in our leaders, and that reflects in each of our children, who are receiving a firm Christian upbringing with no compromise to God's Word and True Love, as Christ has taught us.
